The unique geological formation known as "Hollow Rock" is just offshore in Lake Superior in Grand Portage, 35 miles northeast of Grand Marais, in Minnesota's Cook County. This natural wonder is an arched rock formation, a remnant of an old lava flow formed by centuries of the rock being eroded by rolling and crashing waves hollowing out the center.
